Petition against norms rejected |

Kottayam sub court judge Ameer Ali today rejected the petition against the norms of the bishop election to be conducted in the Malankara Syrian Christian Association meeting to be held on 11 Sep 2008. The petitioners argued that the list of 10 candidates submitted by the screening committee is against the existing norms for bishop election. |

'HARITHA' The Metropolitan's Sapthati Project Launched

Chegnannur:The Versatile Chengannur Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Church witneesed the launching of 'HARITHA' the declared agricultral/environment preservaton scheme under 'The Metropolithans Sapthati Project'.
The project was inagurated by distributing vegetable seeds to the members of the youth movement of the church to grow them at the premises of 52 parishes of the diocese and other places the Youth Movement works.
The scheme was inagurated by Mr P.C. Vishnunath M.L.A and the meeting was presided over by H.G Thomas Mar Athanasios Metropolithan.Vice President Fr Thomas Varghese Amayil presented the scheme. Docesian Secrtary Fr Mathew Varghese, Mg.Committe Member Adv. V. C Sabu, Mr Saji Pattarumadom present Secertary Mr Sibi Mathai spoke on the occassion

News came as per my instruction- H.H
While responding to the news in Deshabhimani daily that a fraud statement was made in the name of the H.Church H.H told that it was made as per H.H' instruction. "In the view that the statement of H.G. Yuhanon Mar Meletius Metropolitan regarding the stand of the H.Church in the ongoing live issue of text book for 7th standard in the Kerala syllabus may cause confusion among the faithful I myslef instructed to make an official statement", H.H told. The centenary conference of MGOCSM will be from 26th to 31st December 2008 at Parumala Seminary- HEARTY WELCOME TO ALL Sorry for the confusion created by the circular in Malayalam regarding the centenary competitions. It is meant for passing information in our parishes. During the preliminary discussions for the conduct of these competitions it was realized that it will take a lot of time to complete all the items if we conduct the competitions in an international level. So Short film, Music album and Orthodox Pradhibha are meant for all. Other items will be conducted at Kerala level only because of convenience sake and timely completion of competitions and consolidation of the results. An essay competition will also be announced shortly for the members in outside Kerala Dioceses. Please confirm your maximum participation in centenary competitions and Conference. Managing Committee - 14 May 2008 |

The Managing Committee of the Church, held on Wednesday, 14 May 2008, has decided to form 5 new dioceses named Bangalore, Ahammadabad, London, South West Diocese of USA and North East Diocese of USA.
It also passed a budget of Rs. 166 Crores for the coming financial year.
The next meeting of the Managing Committee is sceduled to be held on 19th August 2008. HH Baselious Marthoma Didymus I presided over the meeting. |
