St. Mary Mother of God

Owing to her unique role in the Economy of Salvation, St. Mary Mother of God is the most venerated among all the saints. She is called the queen of Saints. The Church considered her as closest to God among the human beings. Because of her selection to be the Mother of God, she got a unique role and by her submission and faith in God reached the highest peak of holiness. Perpetual virginity of St. Mary is an important dogmatic belief of the Orthodox Churches. Virginity is not only simply referring to the physical aspect, but also to her single-mindedness and surrender towards the will of God. In the Syriac tradition, she is depicted as the second Eve who is the antitype of the first one who disobeyed the will of God. The compliance of St. Mary reflected very well through out her life made her a perfect model for the believers.
